'Pre' embodied the spirit of athletic excellence. He had a belief in self and sport that transcended all but the outer reaches of human speed and endurance. As a freshman, he appeared on the cover of Sports lllustrated, which hailed him as 'America's Distance Prodigy'. By the time he died in a tragic auto accident at the age of 24, Pre held all 7 American records between 2,000 and 10,000 meters. 0ff the track, he fought relentlessly for the rights of amateur athletes to prosper for their sacrifices. Narrated by Ken Kesey, Fire 0n the Track is the story of this young lion's life, as told through rare footage and the memories of those who knew him best - his teammates, coaches, family and friends. lnterviews include David Bedford, Frank Shorter, lan Stewart, Bill Bowerman, Jeff Galloway, Dick Buerkle, Lasse Viren, Dana Carvey, Mac Wilkins, Kenny Moore, Dave Wottle, Alberto Salazar, and many more.

:
The legendary distance runner Steve Prefontaine blazed across tracks and into America's consciousness before meeting a tragic death in an auto accident at the age of 24. ln this tribute to 'Pre,' narrated by writer Ken Kesey, a number of his contemporaries speak movingly of him as an athlete and a person. After setting high school running records in his native 0regon, Prefontaine went on to the University of 0regon, where as a freshman he began to dominate the American track scene and appeared on the cover of Sports lllustrated. He was a distinctive character and archival films demonstrate the charisma and astounding confidence he brought to his sport. His race in the 5,000 meters at the 1972 Munich 0lympics is shown in detail, with other runners in the race offering commentary on the gutsy performance of the 21-year-old. Pre didn't win a medal in the race, but as his sister puts it, the race 'matured him' and made him determined to win gold at the 1976 Montreal 0lympics (which he wouldn't live to do). Though one of the world's best athletes, after college he was forced to survive on food stamps, and he became a spokesman for the plight of amateur athletes. This is a touching look at a brilliant athlete and a charming character who still inspires runners today. --Robert J. McNamara

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent documentary!
I am a runner, so Steve Prefontaine is a hero to me. He was an awesome runner, and also did a lot for amateur athletics overall, affecting all generations after him. He died such a tragic, untimely death, but his legacy and inspiration live on. Great documentary of a great hero.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Coach Harry
One of the most inspiring documentaries I've ever watched. My children of whom are all runners are crazed Pre fans and all ran personal bests after watching this film. This is a film that all runners should watch. Coach's should direct their children to watch this movie also. We need more legends like Pre to inspire our runners of the future!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good documentary
Good documentary with multiple opinions. Wish they had it on DVD though. Not as long as Prefontaine or Without Limits but mostly informational. Inspirational for any avid Pre fan and good info for those not familiar with him

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Inspirational
I highly recommend this movie to ANYONE who needs inspiration or motivation. Perhaps you are in sales and need a little extra drive to get over the rejection of a lost sale, etc. This movie will tell you to never quit no matter what your odds.
Steve Prefontaine was a world class runner who ran in the 1972 Munich Olympics. Although he didn't win a medal nobody tried harder than he did. His life was cut short in a tragic accident, but his memory lives on in the life he ran on the track in Oregon. If you enjoyed this movie,be sure to see,"Without Limits" which is another outstanding portrayal of his life.

For those who haven't noticed (a group that apparently includes millions of Americans), the sport that we call soccer and the rest of the world calls football is big. Very big. And no one is bigger than Real Madrid, the subject of Real - The Movie. This is the soccer equivalent of the New York Yankees, a rich, perennially successful club that features many of the biggest stars in the world; as of 2005, when the film was released, players included England's David Beckham and Michael Owen, Brazil's Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos, Portugal's Luis Figo, and France's Zinedine Zidane (who notoriously head-butted an Italian opponent in the 2006 World Cup final). All of them can be seen in the quasi-documentary sections of the film, as Real prepares for a climactic match against rival Barcelona. Scenes of the players practicing, the coaches strategizing, and the match itself are well done, with crisp cinematography, occasional use of animation and other effects, and an overall kinetic feeling well suited to the sport. But director Borja Manso also wants Real - The Movie to explain to the uninitiated just what it is that makes Real such a big deal all around the world. To that end, he incorporates several personal (and fictional) stories: A Tokyo schoolboy distressed over his girlfriend's shrieking obsession with Beckham. A young Madrid history teacher who doesn't understand Real mania, and his neighbor, an elderly woman who's been unable to return to the stadium since her husband passed away. A Senegalese kid dying to go to soccer school. A teenage girl in New York who suffers a severe leg injury during a match and finds inspiration in Ronaldo's rehabilitation after a similar incident. Pretty standard stuff, by and large, and way too on-the-nose to be very compelling. Combine all of that with some newsreel footage from Real's early days and lots of throbbing, thrilling music, and it all amounts to a big, glossy valentine packaged as wholesome family fare. Nothing wrong with that--unless you're a Boston Red Sox fan. --Sam Graham

The Olsen twins are turning 16, and they're celebrating with this collection of party games and, you guessed it, driving lessons. The good news is that if you can help them get past the obstacles and pass the test, they'll take you out with their new driver's licenses to a variety of fun minigame activities, like rock climbing, riding Jet Skis, surfing, ATV quad racing, and shopping for clothes. Earn points in the party games and spend them to upgrade the car and unlock cool tunes and cooler outfits.

It's not very often that a game aims to be fun and realistic while instilling a sense of personal involvement and responsibility. Mary-Kate and Ashley: Winners Circle does that within the theme of horseback riding. Players compete in such equestrian events as dressage, jumping, and cross-country, and learn the basics of caring for a horse. The game offers a practice mode, which lets riders master the controls and explore a course before entering events, and an adventure mode with large forest and island levels where players can play minigames or just simply explore.
